What makes a class at RYDE different from other indoor cycling classes

For starters, it's more than a class. It's an experience. Our strength lies in our people and our supportive community. Our first-class instructors are fun, energetic, motivated, and care about your goals. We encourage them to be creative with their playlists and to bring their personalities with them to class. No two rides are ever the same! We've worked hard to develop ride styles that appeal to everyone. Whether you are training for your next race or triathlon, looking for a complete body workout, seeking a competitive edge, or seeking a cathartic escape, RYDE offers it all with several different ride types.

When should I arrive at the studio

We require riders to check in at least 4 minutes prior to class, as this ensures that classes start at their scheduled time. You must also consider shoe rental, locker use, and bike setup when determining your arrival time - if this only takes you 4 minutes, we're impressed! If you are new to our studio or need extra help getting started, please allow yourself at least 15minutes prior to the class. If you are running late, call the studio to hold your bike. Otherwise, we may offer your reservation to a walk-in rider. Please note, we are only able to hold the bike up to 5 minutes after class begins to prevent disruption for other riders.

When can I register for classes

Our booking window continually updates to allow for a two-week booking window. You can book online via rydecycling.com or by calling our studio. Customers may register online for a class up to an hour before class. Beyond that time, please call the studio to book or just walk-in.

How far in advance do I have to cancel a ride in order to avoid penalty

You must cancel a ride by 5pm the day before your scheduled class in order to avoid losing that class. If you cancel after 5pm the day before, you forfeit your ride credit. We do not offer refunds for missed classes.

Do you have showers and what other goodies does your facility offer

NY: Yes! We have showers for men and women. Our men's and women's shower rooms provide towels, hair dryers, and deodorant, as well as C.O. Bigelow soaps and lotion. We have self-locking lockers to store your valuables, gel seats for your tushy and cycling shoes for rent if you do not have your own. We offer a water refill station, hair ties, and ear plugs, as well as Smart water for purchase.

Do I need to wear cycling shoes

Yes! All riders are required to wear cycling shoes that clip into the pedals. We use triple link pedals, which accommodate Look Delta and SPD clips. Bring your own cycling shoes or rent in-studio for $2.

Why are cycling shoes more beneficial

Studies have shown that you get nearly 30% more out of your workout with cycling shoes. Cycling shoes provide a more secure position in the pedals enabling you to work much more efficiently and produce more powerful pedal strokes.

I am new to indoor cycling and I am worried I won't be able to keep up. What should I expect

Don't be intimidated! Indoor cycling classes are appropriate for individuals of all experience and fitness levels. If you are a beginner, arrive early to your first class and let the front desk staff know that it's your first visit. Our staff and instructors will take you through a brief orientation to get you ready and guide you through to the best ride you've ever experienced!

What should I wear for class:

We recommend wearing comfortable workout attire, including padded bicycle shorts if you are new to cycling. Avoid wearing loose-fitting long pants that may get caught in the pedals.

What are the benefits of taking an indoor cycling class

Indoor cycling is a terrific cardio workout that burns calories, increases stamina, and helps develop a toned and strong body, without putting too much stress on your joints. Indoor cycling can be adapted to any fitness level, and the ability to adjust your resistance level on your bicycle ensures a level of individual control that other group workouts just can't. Indoor cycling classes are a great way to get in top physical condition and stay there.

How often do I need to take classes to see results

This varies from rider to rider - especially if you're using cycling to supplement an already rigorous workout routine. Generally, we recommend you take 3 classes per week to maximize your results, and we also highly recommend balancing any and all workouts with lots of stretching!

How many calories are burned during a class

It's different for each class and for each rider, since you can control the level of resistance on your bike, and some of our classes involve weight training. However, research has shown that indoor cyclists burn between 400-550 calories in a 45 minute class; men generally burn more calories than women.

I am interested in throwing a birthday party ride, or a private ride for a friend, can I do that at RYDE

Absolutely. Our studio is always available to rent for private events and we love that you consider an indoor cycling class a fun experience for a party! Please contact us here at the studio anytime to help you plan your next event.
